When you are running a rapidly growing small business, it’s often easy to forget to look back at where it all began. Granite Lane was inspired by my love of interiors along with Marcus’ talent for small business. Both our parents ran small businesses growing up so it just felt like the next step for us.
Our clients often ask why we are called Granite Lane. The name originated from my home town of Aberdeen, as it’s known as the Granite City, I felt it was a nice nod to my humble beginnings and Scottish heritage.
The business has evolved over the last four years, starting out as an online store, we then transitioned to a pop up store. The response was so great we opened our first (and only) bricks and mortar store here in Mount Hawthorn and haven’t looked back since.
Our collection is ever evolving as we discover new brands and local talent along the way. We love to support local Australian brands and products, and the stories behind them. We have recently created our own range of locally made products, including customisable sofas, bedheads, ottomans and cushions. Our style would be described as modern Australian with a love for Danish design and injections of colour.
The Granite Lane clientele is a beautiful mix of people that are constantly inspiring us. There’s nothing we love more than making a house feel more like a home, and seeing the joy that comes along with that on a clients face at the end of a project. We offer different tiered interior styling services, from in home consultations to full styling packages.
Our Granite Lane team is a tight knit team that love what we do. We are always ready to help with any design questions you may have. We are constantly growing our team and today have a staff of four growing to six later this month.
Joh is my right hand woman. She walked into the store one day, fell in love, and never left. Anyone who has met Joh will agree she will go over and above to help someone. With a background in marketing and a passion for interiors - it is easy to see why she fits in so well here. Joh is currently completing her interior design qualification in her spare time.
Marcus is my husband, he works full time, manages the accounts at Granite Lane, and is the unofficial tech support for the store, we would be lost without him in a crisis. Marcus has a big love for fine dining and great food, you can usually find him in the kitchen or in one of Perth’s favourite restaurants.
And I’m Bianca, the owner of Granite Lane, I love a good wine - it’s one of the many reasons I fell in love with Australia. I love entertaining, and thankfully for me Marcus is a really good cook!
We have a daughter called Evie who has recently turned six, who loves nothing more than coming into the store and re arranging the cushions, I don’t know where she gets it…
Here at Granite Lane we love hearing from our customers, if there is something you would like to see us stock, please let us know. Be sure to pop in and say hello next time you’re in the area.
